The Most Fun Games You Can Play on Facebook

The Most Fun Games You Can Play on Facebook

The Most Fun Games You Can Play on Facebook
By Henrik V Blunck

You can find quite a few games on Facebook. There is a very large variety in these ranging from strategy games all the way over to speed challenges - and everything in between. By introducing some of the games I play, I hope to inspire you to get a better experience with Facebook games.

Mob Wars and Mafia Wars

Mob Wars and Mafia Wars are very similar games. You are the boss in a number of cities, and each have their different challenges. There are quite a few players around, and you need to build a strong base of fellow gamers to avoid being attacked by large mobs.

Oftentimes, it pays to get in touch with larger families, and ask them to join your mob. Exactly as in organized crime, numbers and money speak the common language understood by all, and you can easily run through the initial levels and meet more challenging assignments as you grow your mobs.

FarmVille

This is a rather fun game where you are your own boss owning a far with animals and vegetables to be grown. You get some very nice gameplay, but the game does lag at times due to quite a few players online. However, if you enjoy the thought of running your own business, this can be a nice way to develop some skills that will be useful for you later in life.

CafeWorld

Just as in FarmVille, you run your own business, but this time the focus is on running your own cafe, and you will get lots of customers when you remember to have fresh coffee available, and when you run a selection of three to four dishes (or more), customers keep coming in. You can build a fortune in no time, and gameplay is rather fun as you are kept on your toes by incoming people waiting to be served.

AirPort City - Free to Fly

In this game you are faced with daily challenges, and running an entire airport is not nearly as easy as it sounds. You can get a good idea of a city simulation, and much like Train City, this is a game that will be enjoyed by all ages.

Conclusion

A very good way to expand your playing experience can be by watching what your Facebook friends are playing. This might give you a very good idea as to what you might also like to play next time you are on Facebook.

How to Get a Game Server Hosted

How to Get a Game Server Hosted

How to Get a Game Server Hosted
By Matt Griffin

First of all what are game server providers, GSPs, and why do I need one? If, like me, you love playing games with your other online gaming buddies you generally play together online. You and your team need a playground that will provide the online space for you to. How and where does all that information get processed? There are two main methods.

The first is peer to peer. Peer to peer is a well established protocol of information sharing between willing computers. In the case of online computer games this is where one computer acts as the host (master computer if you like) and all other players' computers send their information to the master. This gives the player hosting the game a slight advantage in response time or lower ping and of course once that player leaves the game the server no longer exists as it was dependent on his connection, historically this has been referred to as a 'listen server'.

Dedicated Servers. Some games companies like Activision and EA provide their own online "official" or "ranked" dedicated servers where they have their own machines in their own data centre hosting official servers that they control and admin. Console games generally also have their own dedicated servers provided by the developers or peer to peer solutions in some cases as with Modern Warfare 2 and 3. But some servers are provided by individuals who like to have personal control over how their game server is setup. These come in two options. Either the individual has a rented or owned machine and hosts the game server themselves. The second option is to rent a dedicated game server from a large list of GSP's (game server providers) who for a small monthly charge can host your server for you 24 hours a day and have web based graphic user interfaces in order to start, stop, reinstall, edit configuration files, setup scheduled restarts, install mods and much more. This is in large part the most common choice as it is both cost effective and much easier to get started. Only basic knowledge is needed in order to host a server this way. That is why the GSP industry has grown to a 5 million dollar a year industry.

What are online servers?

A server is a machine running in a data centre (DC) with a high bandwidth connection to the internet and a redundant power supply to keep things online 24 hours a day, 365 days per year. This allows lots of players to connect to one place to all play together. GSP's host their game servers on machines in a data centre.

What is ping?

Ping is just an ICMP command that checks the time it takes for a packet of information to travel from one computer to another and back again. Ping is measured in ms or milliseconds which are thousandths of a second. A game server that is hosted within 300 miles of your physical location should provide you with a good latency to your game server.

Full Dedicated Server

I have heard of dedicated servers. What are these?

You can rent a full dedicated server, this gives you root access to a Windows Server machine via Remote Desktop Connection. This is for advanced users as setting up a game server using steamcmd and configuring the firewall can be a time consuming process but for large communities and clans this is the only option. Full control over your game servers, root access to all of the files, something you will never get with shared game server hosting. It comes with a cost though, around the $100 per month mark so get those donations flowing to pay for the hardware.

Shared Game Server Hosting

Renting through a GSP (game server provider) is the most common and the best bang for your buck way to run a game server. You choose a provider from the many 100's out there, choosing which provider to go with can be quite a daunting task. Here are the main points to consider.

Price. Well price is king in most cases and a lot of gamers would have looked for the cheapest company in the top ten of Google and gone with them without even thinking about it. However choosing the lowest price is a haphazard way to choose any service, whether it be a plumber, an electrician or in this case a game server. You can choose the cheapest and take a punt, go for the most expensive and hope that translates into a quality service or if you're like me go for the middle ground, not too cheap and not too expensive. I use this practice when choosing everything, from toasters to hotel rooms. But price isn't the only factor to consider.

Reputation. Reputation has an extremely strong influence in any decision on which service provider to use. There are game server companies that seem to of been around since the dawn of the internet age, and there are new unknown companies that have only formed in the past years. The older companies have seen it all before and maybe can get caught not putting the effort into the control panel functionality that a modern games and gamers demand. New vibrant young companies can be enthusiastic and energetic in their approach to both new game releases and support but they can also make mistakes and show a lack of experience in challenging support matters. The complicated nature of the newer indie games and steam early access games make it very difficult to get a smooth running game server so I would opt for the middle ground again, a company that's not too long in the tooth but also old enough to have experience where it matters.

What else does a GSP offer then?

There are also some other factors to consider when selecting a GSP:

Control Panel Interface. This is a Graphic User Interface (GUI) where you control your game server from. Here you can launch the game, change the rules, add server passwords, add bans, allows, add administrators and add mods. This should be fast and easy to use. The industry standard is TCAdmin 2, but many providers have custom created control panels to reduce costs as TCAdmin can be rather pricy for enterprise companies.

Support staff experience. The support staff has experience to set up the game to make is easier to play as lots of games nowadays have complicated set up procedures. A good GSP will have a configuration editor already configured in the GSP control panel so that you do not need to go and research all the information to edit the file yourself. The key is the better the staff the less problems will go wrong with your server once you have it.

Mod installers. Some GSPs have mod installers where you can, in one or two clicks, completely install a mod to a game with all the required files without the need to upload via FTP. Again this is a setup that your GSP would/should have made themselves.

24 Hour support. I play games into the wee hours of the morning and business hours support is no good to me. I want 24 hour support and I want someone to get back to me pretty quick so I can get on with my gaming. I don't get a lot of free time and I don't want it wasted on staring at a broken server, even if I did broke it myself.

Instant Setup. Most GSP's should have instant setup, in my experience this is not actually instant, instant start of the setup, not quite instant setup, the files need to download and some of these new games can be 20GB or more.

Configuration editors. These are necessary for GSPs as many don't want to give access to the root folders and modify the configurations and.ini files as the player slots are generally directly related to CPU consumption so the more player slots you require the more the server will cost. A good configuration editor will make the setting up of your game server easier. The complicated nature of some of the recent indie games like DayZ and Ark Survival evolved require attention to detail in order to get running smoothly. Make sure to check that the GSP is up to date with all custom configurations as updates for these types of games come quite often and can break an out of date configuration. So making sure the GSP staff are keeping up with games is a good indicator of a good GSP. Any good GSP should be able to answer detailed questions about their games and if they don't what kind of support can you expect from them.

It's Seems Money Has No Real Value Anymore!

It's Seems Money Has No Real Value Anymore!

It's Seems Money Has No Real Value Anymore!
By Arnold Nadler

I mention quite often in my articles key factors like high inflation, over taxation, and a deficit in our national budget. This all equals to my assumption money has no real value anymore. Here is my logic behind the statement.

Even a person with a family having household income of $50,000 are in serious debt. It begins with the government taking around $14,000 directly off their paychecks. Then anything a person buys the 13% consumer taxes on purchases made, or as we call it H.S.T, removing anther $4,600 off an individual's income. The purchasing power for someone earning fifty-thousand yearly is around $31,400, or $2,600/month. A family of four with teenagers spends approximately a thousand/month on groceries, and based on national averages a $1,000 in housing. How far does a six-hundred dollar balance go? Is it any wonder the average Canadian family is a hundred-thousand in debt? Even worse the millions who make in that minimum wage realm of earning are bigger trouble. Their kids need to eat and have shelter too.

Inflation is off the rails, what we could purchase for a dollar in the seventies, is now 4 times the amount for the same things. That would be fine if the balance was right between earnings and inflation. Using this ideology a person who earned $50,000 in the seventies would need to make $200,000 today. I highly doubt people paid 50% deductions at source, but this would leave the $100,000 which might work for a decent lifestyle.

It is pretty sad when we think a low-income minimum wage family can't really afford junk food like MacDonald's. Forty hours at minimum wage nets approximately $374, so taking their family of four for fast food costing about $45.00, and requires 5 hours working time is not feasible. It is actually 12% of their net weekly income just to eat junk food really!

I believe the only way to give money value again is by our government investing in manufacturing here, and saying good-bye to free trade. Our socialistic ways is not working anymore. Time to stop being a service country but a manufacturing one again providing jobs, increasing wages because of being able to export products, and yes start using our natural resources as before to stimulate the economy through revenues. In doing so money coming into the country means more people working, less on system, and no reason not to reduce taxation.

I think we can't afford to support foreign people, as we are having enough trouble presently supporting ourselves in Canada. Maybe we should also stop bowing down to the environmentalists because we can't afford to save the world. These disposal taxes on electronics, emission tests on our cars, or above property taxes for garbage removal is killing our budgets. We need to survive now, and the average citizen doesn't have the means to worry 50-100 years down the road. Did our parents or grandparents, they were actually left alone to enjoy their lives. I believe all those fees and taxes are a money grab anyways, not changing much environmentally.

How come it was possible earlier in the last century for one working person in household to support a family, save money, put their kids through school, go on vacation, and save for retirement? The best part not be in a lifetime of debt. If we want our money to gain value again, we need to leave more of it in Canadians pockets, and pay our fair share taxes but not be fleeced because they are failing in raising our economy.

Cats, More Than a Pet, Yes or NO?

Cats, More Than a Pet, Yes or NO?

Cats, More Than a Pet, Yes or NO?
By Salome Ugeh

Animals share the same emotions with humans; we share the same brain structures located in the limbic system, seats of our emotions. Animals have instincts "a natural, inherent impulse, absence of learning, based on rational conscious thought" the Merriam Webster dictionary defines, as humans. The lifestyle of an animal, his instincts, in terms of personality, we can borrow a leaf from, especially in the way we view life and deal through it. Take the cats for example, wild or domestic, pets or not, they possess attributes we can draw strength in fear from, speed in slow and delayed queue and care in a nonchalant world.

The lion, a populous wild cat, lives in groups called prides. A pride usually consists of three males, females and their young ones. The pride in a male lion is seen in the way he puts together his pride and boast manes. They mark their areas of residence with the intention of warding off intruders from their zone; an intrusion results in preying and attacking an intruder. Although a lioness is the primary hunter, providing kill for the group, they do not fight to claim rights with the males but would continue with their pride as they age, submissive attributes that female humans own and display. We humans also show a measure of courage, strength and care as we deal with others; Parents and guardians stick out their ass to create home and provide necessities for family, friends believe in you and would be ready to help, if need be and if an intrusion occurs, they are willing and prepared for fight to protect.

A leopard is another wild cat, capable of climbing the branches and taking their prey to the trees fully confident and cautious of other animals coming to feed on them or steal their food. They growl when angry, make different sounds depending on its mood as it slides through changes in his environment. Humans have the same instinct to hide what is important to them; no one would especially leave unattended to specific and vital information that tends to yield life whether in terms of finance, comfort, safety or otherwise.

Leopards are tawny and buff with dark spots called rosettes. "A leopard can never take out its dark spots". This idiom shows we cannot change our personality and character, whether light furred or dark furred. An inborn personality must be accepted, it can only be tamed, modified not changed entirely. "I am proud and rude, that's who I am", using that phrase as a case note, it would be easy for one to judge and say such individual is stubborn and hardened. Rather it is an acceptance that changing one's personal quality in a whole is impossible but it can be worked on to suit others. Life would be much easier if we view people's attribute as distinct, a gift, without being strictly judgemental. A friend once said, "Being proud and arrogant is a gift but it must be for all right reasons if it is our way of life".

Our domestic cat also shows willingness to continue to shake out dust, stand tall, rise up although fallen seriously.

I'll share about that soon.

JLO or JNo - Jennifer Lopez Interview - Kelly & Michael

Choosing a Cat Tree or Scratching Post for Your Cat

Choosing a Cat Tree or Scratching Post for Your Cat
By Jan Chadwick

We all know how much cats love to climb... and sleep and scratch and play... and nap! There are a lot of very cool styles of cat trees and scratching posts available that give your kitty options to do all the things he loves to do most! The variety of configurations of cat trees available include simple styles to ones with multi-levels for climbing and places to stop and scratch along the way. Some styles have hidey holes to lounge and nap in after their play time wears them out!
The simpler styles of cat trees might offer a perch or two with a scratching post included in the structure. They are obviously more cost effective than their larger counterparts so choose with your budget in mind. Now, the more elaborate and larger cat trees can get a little crazy! VERY cool, though, I must admit. Some are designed like castles with every amenity for your cat that you could think of... perches, hidey-holes, scratching areas, dangling toys to play with and lots of vertical pieces to climb on! Your cat could be entertained for hours on end. Then there are those that offer more 'snoozy' spots - kind of like bungalows more for napping than playing. If you have multiple cats, the more elaborate styles of cat trees allow your kitties to play or nap together.
Younger cats and kittens will likely take to the cat trees that offer lots of playing options while older kitties are more prone to nap a little more often. We happen to have four cats. All of them are in their prime and still pretty playful. As ALL cats do, every one of ours will seek out any box they can find to climb into - whether they fit or not! So any cat tree with hidey-holes, perches or cozy sleeping areas to snuggle into is going to draw your kitty's attention.
I would suggest that no matter the style you choose make sure to get one that has an area or two for scratching! Some cat trees have rope wrapped around the post or a sisal-covered post. Any surface that will attract your cat to use it is good! Once your cat has chosen that as his scratching area, he or she will develop that habit and hopefully stop ruining the couch or any other furniture he's taken a liking to!
If you are looking for just a scratching post, again there are many styles to choose from. A standard carpeted post on a base will work as well as anything. I've gone through a few of those and my kitties have worn them down to the backing of the carpet! Scratching posts containing both carpet and rope or a sisal/rope combination are a nice mix for your cat to choose from. The cardboard scratchers are also great choices. As with the cat trees, choose with price, style and workability in mind for your home and kitties.
I am always trying to please my cats and meet their needs. When looking for that great cat tree or scratching post, keep in mind what works best for your home and your cat(s). There are lots of choices in every price range. For a great selection of cat trees and scratching posts, check out the choices at http://www.mybestpetproducts.com. Let's keep 'em happy!

The Latest News About Jennifer Lopez At Kohl's
By Anna L

Did you know that you can get your very own piece of Jennifer Lopez at Kohl's? Late in 2010, J. Lo and her then husband Marc Anthony told the world that they were going to create their very own apparel and accessories line for the retailer, but it seems that everything was going to be on the rocks when they announced their separation just recently. Thankfully for all you fashion lovers out there, it seems that they are still set to launch their line despite their own personal split. So you'll still be able to get the line from Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez at Kohl's.

No Plans To Cancel Line Of Clothes & Accessories From Jennifer Lopez At Kohl's

Despite early fears that the launch of the line from Marc Anthony & Jennifer Lopez at Kohl's would not go ahead, it seems that they're willing to put business above their own personal feelings aside to launch this very lucrative deal. But it seems that there will be a slight modification, with the two each launching their own individual lines instead of it being a joint effort. Well, the bottom line is, who cares? J. Lo is going to take care of the ladies wear and that's all that matters.

Despite her previous label going under in 2006 due to lack of popularity, it seems that Kohl's is more than willing to give her a second chance to break through in the fashion world. Jennifer Lopez at Kohl's should learn from the mistakes made from the previous effort, which was plagued with criticisms of being overly priced and not delivering on the quality front. Well, it seems that it wasn't her fault after all, and that because of her inexperience she got caught up in "decisions and situations that didn't reflect her own personal tastes".

Now that she's more experienced, she's chomping at the bit to have another crack by launching her very own label in collaboration with Kohl's. She's got a partner, Tommy Hilfiger, involved with her too so this should be much more of a hit than her previous Sweetface label. I don't know about you, but I'm very much excited about the launch of this new label from Jennifer Lopez at Kohl's. I've always been a big fan of her style and fashion sense, so I'll catch up with you in the stores when they launch officially at Kohl's!

Man of Steel and the Dark Knight. These two cape crusaders always fought solo until the formation of the Justice League in the "Brave and the Bold" in the 1960's, whose members also consist of Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter, Green Lantern, The Flash, and Aquraman. Batman and Superman are great friends. But even friends fight. There are 45 comics/movies in which Superman and Batman fight in. I'm sure there are more out there where Man of Steel and the Dark Knight kick butt. Let's take a look at the list.

The comic's early success was indirectly responsible for the creation of the Fantastic Four. When Marvel-Timely owner Martin Goodman heard in 1961 how well DC's then-new book Justice League was selling, he told Stan Lee, his comics editor, to come up with a team of superheroes for Marvel.[91] The result was Fantastic Four #1 by Lee and Jack Kirby, which debuted in November 1961.[92]

Marvel also introduced a team of villains in 1971 based on the Justice League called Squadron Supreme which has appeared in print as well as Disney XD's Avengers Assemble animated series. The characters are analogous to Superman, (Hyperion), Batman (Nighthawk), Wonder Woman (Power Princess), Green Lantern (Doctor Spectrum), and Flash (Speed Demon). There is even a cross over with JLA/Avengers in 2003-2004.

Let's hope these two dynamic duo will always be around to save the world!

Despite flaws, The Division is a game that changes things for online gaming

Despite flaws, The Division is a game that changes things for online gaming
Gaming
The Division screenshot max quality 05
When I first told a friend about The Division, his impression of this new game that has taken the Net by storm this past week was that of the World of Warcraft. You’d need a tank, a healer and a damage dealer, he imagined.
Well, you only need to jump into The Division for an hour to see how different it is. More akin to Grand Theft Auto (GTA) than World of Warcraft, this hybrid online game is more action than role-playing. More fun, for sure.
And it could yet change the way people team up to play online and how developers come up with games to suit both single- and multi-player universes.
Star Wars: Battlefront had a rich universe to draw on but offered a multiplayer-only environment that quickly got stale for many players. In The Division, you choose to go solo or with a team almost seamlessly.
Yes, you still need teamwork, especially in the final few tough missions, but as long as you got folks who’ve levelled up enough and don’t go on crazy solo gun runs (and get killed), you can tackle most of the main story missions pretty well.
And they are extremely fun to play through. Whether you bring a sniper rifle, light machine gun or shotgun, whether you pack your skills with healing or offensive abilities, you don’t have to fixed in a class of character. This flexibility makes the game more dynamic.
Each game you take on could be different because you can play a different role. Heck, once I was part of a four-man team clearing the final Level 28/29 mission, all four of us went all guns blazing. I don’t think I required reviving a single time. Nor did we get wiped once.
Yes, there have been co-op games in the past, but The Division’s rich Tom Clancy back story about a group of sleeper agents rising to restore order in New York after a disastrous virus contagion gives the game an extra dimension.
The Division screenshot max quality 01
The multiplayer game is also easy to get on. Instead of waiting for friends to join in a 20-man raid, you can turn to a matchmake feature to form quick groups of four, or three, or two, to get going.
And in these early days of the game, it is pretty easy to find people in an instant even you are playing solo on the story missions most of the time.
Once I joined a group of Taiwanese gamers who blazed through a Level 20+ mission, with each of us seemingly knowing what to do without much sophisticated coordination, beyond telling one another where the sniper was or to avoid running into a hail of gunfire.
So, the good thing about The Division is that you can run and gun through the main story missions without having to choose whether to get on a server that allowed for player-versus-player duels.
The Division screenshot max quality 03
If you want to engage, you enter the so-called Dark Zone on the map. Here, you walk into a free-for-all arena where everything goes. It’s also here that the potential of the game is still yet to be fulfilled.
In the Zone, you can fight computer bosses and take precious loot back, but you have to call in a chopper for extraction. Doing so alerts other players on the map, so they can choose to come help you fight the bosses or kill you to steal your loot.
So far, the costs of turning rogue, or whacking other players in the Zone, has been too high. You literally put a sign on your back and alert everyone there to come after you. And if you get killed as a rogue agent, your Dark Zone experience points take a hard hit.
That’s probably why many players in there are in some sort of friendly, if a little uneasy, dance. You can see people doing jumping jacks and saluting each other in there instead of always firing at each other on sight.
My first foray there a few nights ago had me teaming up with two like-minded folks roaming for loot. We cleared a few enemies and whacked another team for their loot, to their surprise.
In the end, I was wasted by a computer boss while trying to extract some loot – the most skillful team leader had left the game by then and the other player couldn’t give me enough cover fire.
The Division screenshot max quality 02
So, the Dark Zone still has a lot of potential. As more players hit the max Level 30 in the main game, they would want to gun for Level 99 in the Dark Zone (one guy has already got that, in just 60 hours!).
As people look for those precious Phoenix credits (or “bird coin”) that exist in the Dark Zone to buy precious stuff, you could find human behaviour at its best – or worst, depending on how you see it. That is, people shooting at each other for scarce resources.
I’ve taken a break in the past two nights. More than a week in, when I usually played late at night, I already feel tired out. I’ve not gone online so frequently since I was on every night playing Battlefield 2 and 2142 years ago. Now, The Division is a game that’s surpassed expectations.

Yes, it’s a bit of a crouch-and-shoot action game, but the flexible multiplayer environment is a big hit. It’s easy enough to get on – no grinding until Level 60 like in the World of Warcraft for when the fun starts – because you’d be sucked in from Level 1 onwards.
What I would have liked is for the characters to be able to ride vehicles. Yes! And for the environment to be more destructible. Imagine bringing down part of a decaying building to bury an enemy.
But at its heart, you’d notice this is still somewhat a role-playing game. You’d be emptying mags on an enemy boss, seeing numbers fly off his body, before he goes down. And he’s no demon – he’s just a guy!
Still, for someone who hasn’t played a game in months, I’ve been a happily awoken sleeper agent this past week or so. I’d call on others to join the Division and enter the Dark Zone.

Top 10 Ways to Become a Bad Leader

Top 10 Ways to Become a Bad Leader

Top 10 Ways to Become a Bad Leader
By Ted Santos

There is a difference between leadership and management. Managers control and oversee what happens in time and space. Leaders, on the other hand, disrupt what occurs in time and space. While that approach may sound simple, many leaders unknowingly function as managers. And their inability to lead can stifle the growth of an organization.

Perhaps the debate as to whether leaders are born or created is a somewhat worthy discussion. There is research to support that many leaders developed their skills at a young age. In Malcolm Gladwell's book, David and Goliath, he talks about how dyslexia, which could be perceived as a disadvantage, forced people like Richard Branson to develop leadership skills in elementary school. He also discussed how people who lost a parent at a young age, 20 or younger, began to develop leadership skills.

Those circumstances do not imply being born a leader. They do, however, accentuate the point that leadership can be developed at a young age. Those who are not put in circumstances that force them to be leaders have to figure it out on the basis of what they perceive leadership to be. In some cases, that can be troubling.

Many people have a preconceived notion about what it takes to be a leader. The media promotes terms like tough, intimidating, savvy and ruthless. Some of what is promoted in mainstream about leadership is often the opposite of what it takes to be a great leader.

In a short list, here are the top 10 ways to ruin your chances of being an extraordinary leader. Some are obvious. Others are counterintuitive.

  1. Be a great problem solver for your team or company

- Hinders your people's ability to problem solve

- They will run to you to solve large and small problems

  1. Tell your people what to do

- Hinders your people's ability to think for themselves

- Reduces their ability to make tough decisions

- Creates a "yes man" culture

- Your people MAY resent you because they believe you do not trust them

  1. Never ask questions

- Solutions may only resolve symptoms of the problem

- Stifles innovation

  1. Punish people for failing

- People will not explore new possibilities

- People will stop thinking about innovative products or processes

  1. Focus on the short term

- Could encourage unethical behavior

- Could miss long term opportunities

  1. Never develop yourself - new skills and competencies

- Bigger companies can create new larger opportunities. Without new skills, opportunities could be squandered.

- Company will out grow you

- Makes it difficult to hire top talent

  1. Never develop your people

- Your people will become overwhelmed

- Leadership becomes overwhelmed and may need to micro manage

  1. Never ever hire people smarter than you

- Success rests on the shoulders of top leaders

- Success and growth is limited to the intelligence and experience of the top leader

  1. Only focus on constant improvement, instead of breakthroughs

- Incremental improvement retains status quo

- Lose competitive edge

- Lower margins

  1. Always be the smartest person in the room

- The most powerful and effective leaders hire the smartest people with the best experience

- The leader who is the smartest in the room can hinder growth of top talent

- People could feel invalidated and resentful, which creates low productivity

- Top talent will leave

If you are a leader and you practice one or more of the above, you may be sabotaging your leadership efforts. If you are that leader, now could be an excellent time to hire an executive coach to undo or unlearn habits that can stifle your personal and professional growth as well as the growth of the organization.

An Economics Education by Bitcoin - Part III

An Economics Education by Bitcoin - Part III An Economics Education by Bitcoin - Part III
By Brian Blum
There are a number of these Web-based Bitcoin wallets from which to choose, and they have different features, costs, and reputations to review and consider. Do you need merchant tools? Do you need currency exchange services? Do you need "cold" vault storage? Do you want multi-factor authentication? Whatever you need, there's someone out there offering to provide it for you.
Once you've created an account and a wallet, how do you get Bitcoins? There are two obvious answers. First, if you already had money in one currency and wanted to convert it to a different currency, you could exchange it. Second, the same way that you sell goods or labor for your local currency, you can sell goods or labor for Bitcoin. I explored both of those options.
Bitcoin exchanges work similarly to traditional currency exchanges. There are competing firms with different appetites for various currencies, and they adjust their exchange rates accordingly. There are some with teller's windows you can visit in person, and there are even automated ones, like ATMs, which accept currency, credit cards or Bitcoin, and dispense currency or Bitcoin. I prefer to perform my transactions online, so I researched the various online exchanges. At each, to buy Bitcoin, you must establish and fund an account and then place an order to buy or sell Bitcoin - and there's a spread, just like securities. In these regards, it's similar to a traditional brokerage account, but without the SIPC insurance. If the exchange gets hacked, shutters itself, or is otherwise compromised, your deposits could be temporarily inaccessible or permanently lost. This has already happened to a couple of Bitcoin exchanges, which reinforced my prior mental note to reevaluate my risks if my balances become significant.
Next I updated my business Websites to indicate that we accepted Bitcoin. I figured I could avoid the fees and the bid-ask spread if I could just get someone to pay for my goods or services at the spot price. Years later, having not earned a single Bitcoin, I returned to my study of exchanges.
If you're not familiar with Level-II stock quotes or "depth" charts, it's basically two lists. One list tallies and ranks in price order all the outstanding "buy" orders for a specified equity, showing the number demanded at various price levels; the other similarly ranks "sell" orders. When someone places a "market" order to buy ABC, the outstanding "sell" orders for ABC are matched in price order. Thus, if someone is selling 100 shares of ABC for $30 and someone else is selling 500 shares for $31, all 100 of the $30 shares will be consumed before a single $31 share will be sold on that exchange. Bitcoin exchanges work the same.
